Art Exhibit: Last day for Susanna Barlow
March 1 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Together with the Multicultural Heritage Centre, artist Susanna Barlow welcomes the public into a room of floating screens, images, sounds and accompanying texts loosely chronicles two years spent working with a small stretch of coastline in Trondheim, Norway. The coordinates 63°26’58”N 10°25’55”E point to a small cliff, where this body of work originates.
Barlow takes up the task of sustained presence on site and with the debris that washes up on shore. This exhibition can be thought of as reckoning with how to be here? It entails a process of becoming acquainted with the current ecological moment and examining our position within it. Grappling with this question forms the subjectivity with which the artist frames durational videos, records sonic phenomena on site and performs actions with Styrofoam.
All together, the installation seeks to offer a contemplative framework, at the rhythm of the wave and pedestrian step, where one might dare to reimagine the web called ecology that entangles us.
