Brandon Atkinson Spirit Warrior June 1 – August 28

This summer MCPAG has the pleasure of hosting the work of emerging artist Brandon Atkinson.

Brandon is an Edmonton based artist who began his creative practice at the age of eight years old. Encouraged by his grandparents to pursue his artistic talents Brandon has developed a signature style, vivid ink images with jagged and cursive lines. Each depiction contains a multitude of intricate details which communicate a narrative within a form.

“The very first animal I ever drew was an eagle. I wanted to see if I could do other stuff. My main thing was animals of Canada. If I do a whale, I know they migrate to Canada.”

Atkinson’s work has been featured in the “Art in the Heart” exhibition at Edmonton City Hall, in the Walrus Talks – Aboriginal City Conference (2015), the Works Art & Design Festival (2014) as well as on a billboard for the #yegcanvas project and most recently in the Rubaboo Indigenous Art Festival. His work is held in private collection as well as in major public collections such as the Winnipeg Arts Council .
